Hey Bruce,

I am running a 48 pound Minnkota auto pilot (24 Volt) on the bow and a 55 pound on the back. My boat is 16' 3" and weighs about 1400#s with all Musky Pimps crap in the front

Very few times have I needed nore than the front unit. I purchased it as new old stock on Ebay for half of what a current model cost FYI.

Salesman mentioned using my transom mounted Minnkota too but i did not follow. Why the need for two?

You can use a lower thrust (cheaper) on the front to steer and use the kicker on the back for thrust. It works but is a pain sometimes. Other times two is the only way to keep your boat straight on a drift and get the position you want. Two years ago on Webster that was the only way we could keep moving without swinging all over.

Well you seen mine, I got a Minnkota maxxum Pro 80lb bow mount 24v and my boat is roughly 1100lbs and 17'6" and it whips my boat around pretty good.

Had to buy a new battery 2 weeks ago in Gaylord. A 27 series Everstart deep cycle. This 40 PD Minnkota needs a 12 volt system. Salesman said these motors are much more efficient that the old ones. Would adding a 2nd battery hurt a 12v motor????
