Rod Holders

I slacked off this spring and didn't get something good like I wanted.
Whats everyone running? Whats a good fit for my Lund?
Anyone know anything about Pursuit? Give me your opinions..

If your are going to do it right, I would suggest either the Burt’s Custom Tackle or Pursuit tracks and mounts (They used to be partners, now separate companies, but very similar product). Then add down easters as you like. It is flexible, versatile, & durable. A 3' track with 2 bases and 2 down easters on each side (total of 4) will run you about 300. Do it once, and don't worry about it again... Let me know if you have questions.

I put Bert tracks on my Crestliner this spring and love them. I broke 3 rod holders last year and luckily didnt lose any rods. They are simple to install and look good too. They come in all different lengths. I was able to set up 2 down east rod holders on the adapters and they work great, they also work with the Scotty rod holders. I got 2 Pursuit downrigger swivels and they work great also with my downriggers. I can use them all for trolling walleye, salmon, or muskies. In my opinion, you can't go wrong.

Downeast rod holders on Burt or Pursuit tracks will give you convenience and strength. Plastic rod holders WILL BREAK with muskie stuff and replacing a $20 rod holder isn't a big deal but if it dumps a $100-200 trolling set up in the drink you'll be kicking yourself.

There's not much difference in price and as mentioned they're basically the same. My Dad doesn't like the chrome finish on the Bert tracks because it has a bad glare in certain conditions when he's casting on the back deck. So, for that reason only if I was going to do it again I would go with Pursuit.

Don, I have the Berts tracks. They are a little pricey but once you have them you will come to love them. I also have a couple of the berts tube rod holders. I use them when running multipule planer rods on one side of the boat. Pursuits have the mat finish to resist scratches. The Berts do show the scratches more. Being able to completely remove everything is great. I also use my saltys to hold the net when unhooking fish in the net at boatside.

I have the pursuits on mine and I really like them. I also like the fact they are a Michigan based company and there cust service is tops.

You can buy the longer Burt tracks and cut them in half to save some $$ (if thats a factor)....and the Saltwater Downeasters..pedestal type w/adapter so you can run down rods (freswater ones are too small to hold larger rod handles..)
