Tahquamenon river in July?

My brother in law just called me and he wants to boat up the Tahquamenon river below the falls up to the falls in July. My question is has anyone had success in this river? If so what tips can you give me for this river at this time of year, I kinda know topwater is the way to go giving the warmth but any advice would be appreciated.
