Water Temps

Post by spnplugger »

We all wish for cooler water temps, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.

In the meantime, enjoy the other plentiful species we have. I've been having a good time catching bass the last couple of weeks. Is it the same thrill as catching a muskie? NO. But it's a lot less work. Plus I've kept some to eat, and they are good!

Campau Lake is at 83 degrees at the launch tonight, 7-28-10. Looks like it will be awhile before I can scratch the itch.

Campau is definately out in my book. I'm sure it's 83 throughout the whole water column as well or close to it.

What will this cooler weather that's coming do to the water temps? 4 days of below 80 weather should help right?

Ask and ye shall receive. As of 12:45am 7-29-10 water temp at the end of the West boat ramp dock was 81 degrees. I was going to take a temperature reading at the east side as well but didn't want to interrupt the couple 'parking' [smilie=brows.gif] .

Murray 8/4

Post by vano397 »

I took my 3 yr old son out today looking for bluegills, and the temps were 81.5 at about 8 am and by 10 they were 83...im glad i didn't even bring my big rods with me, or i would have been outright depressed.
Water clarity was very good compared to last time i was there, visibility of about 8 ft+ in most spots.

That sucks... where is the algae bloom that should be going on making the water nice and green?

It was in full force a couple of weeks ago, visibility was less than 3' in most places. On the windy side of the lake the water was that light green color, but for the most part, in calmer water the visibility was pretty "good"

As a side note to liking visibility, as a bit of a novice still, i love being able to see the action of my baits, and follows from a long way away, as opposed to not seeing the fish, because of waves or dirty water, till they are right near the boat. some day i hope my confidence gets to a point where i don't care as much about the visual aspect.
