Hi Will

There are four of us thinking about fishing in the Webster Lake Ice Out Challenge. We have not signed up yet. What is your thought regarding the lake and the flooding by the time of the event?

Thanks

Mark

I read on another site that Webster was still fishable and that they closed it as a precaution. Not to say that it couldn't rise though.

The news out of South Bend last night, said Tippy and Barbee Chain were closed. They didn't say anything about Webster. The water is receding, just hope this rain tomorrow is light. Its a real mess down there.

They're all fishable but when they're out of the banks boat wakes can do damage to houses, yards, etc.

As long as there isn't any more rain the lakes should be back in the banks by next weekend.

Hopefully that water comes down SOON on Webster. My boat is like 7'8" wide in the back. I don't know if it will fit throught the tunnel with the water being up as high as it is. I heard that all the islands are just about under water...

The water on Webster wasn't bad on Saturday but was stained especially in the backwaters, it had come down quite a bit. We made it through the tunnel fine in my 16.5' Tracker Deep-V. The fishing was tough with only 1 follow.

I would say the connector from the launch area was about 5' from the surface of the water to the top. Check out my report in the members section for my details.

State lifts restrictions on Kosciusko County lakes

Associated Press
11:54 AM CDT, March 27, 2009

WARSAW, Ind. - The state Department of Natural Resources has reopened nine lakes in northern Indiana's Kosciusko (Koss-ee-OSS'-koh) County to motorized watercraft.

The lakes were closed March 16 because of unusually high water levels. The DNR said Friday the threat of flooding has passed.

The affected lakes were Tippecanoe, Oswego, James, Big Barbee, Little Barbee, Irish, Kuhn, Sechrist and Winona.
