Went out yesterday to float a short stretch, contacted 7, boated 3 to maybe 26", all on a Suspending Super Rogue twitched s-l-o-w. Water temp 36 degrees estimated (no electronics in my river rig), fish 3-5' deep, wood cover. Nice little Esox fix to help offset a poor ice season.

Today I attended a MUCC Regional meeting at Ionia. A co-rider to the meeting was fishing Muskegon Lake last week just to prove he could catch large pike if desired. Easy and no problem to catch pike as seen in the photos he showed me, but he quickly broke off the pike and went back to the large walleye. There were several large walleye 11-14 lbs taken last week. This week it will be back to ice tackle instead of boating.

The open water we had was very unseason like and there were many shallow water Pike taken from Muskegon lake . Most of those Pike will dissapear by early May . There is a very short window of opportunity from the opener until they are gone deep. There was an open bass season(catch and release) that saw some pikers out enjoying the big Pike action until it was shut down. Easy to catch now, gone tomorrow. Kingfisher
