What assumptions did/does this information change for you? Trying to focus simply on the idea of movement.

Ex: For me it was that it is probably a better idea to first try and figure out where the fish live and fish from deep to shallow when deciphering a lake. So instead of starting at a shoreline I might start at a depth of 20FT plus and then work toward the shallower area to determine where the fish were at, in their home depth, or somewhere along the migration route. Also the idea of a scatter point led me to fan cast more along a deeper area when fish were contacted in 8 to 14 fow because it is conceivable to conact a large fish off the left and right side of the boat if they are in the process of scattering.

We will move into the later chapters towards the end of the week.

I think your strategy sounds good. I would say for me, I will be working harder on locating/identifying those contact/scatter points. This means more looking, studying, mapping. Once you have these locatins identified, you create a milk run and maximize your times on these spots on spots. You can go about this two ways I guess… You could work the 8-10 foot range and when you start catching smaller fish, go a bit deeper and try to catch the larger fish on the deeper side of the contact point. Or, as you said, you could spend more time out deeper, and check shallower during a movement to try to pick up numbers.

Rather than focusing on the obvious/visible structure or starting on the shallow breaks or a predetermined "good" or "hot" depth. I would look for the most significant structure(s) stretching into deep water(migration routes) and work from deep to shallow, trying to contact fish along their migration.

I couldn't state that any better or different.

Good maps can be the key to quickly identifying great spots. If you don't have good maps then it becomes up to the angler to spend the time learning the water. This means identifying the obvious and subtle areas that fish will use to move from shallow to deep and vice versa. Instead of starting out casting to a weedline and working your way around the lake/river sometimes its important to just drive the water you intend to fish. Knowledge of the water is the key to success.
