Hey after reading a lot on these forums i have noticed how much you guys refer to this book. I was just wondering than if i should go get a copy. Also just wanted some insight of how to approach the information because i guess i dont really know how important spoonplugging is to musky fishing.

Every serious fisherman should read this book; it's not just for muskie or bass fishing. The concepts are generally applicable, and if you're intent on becoming a better fisherman, it's more than worth the effort, time, and money.

The term "spoonplugging" has at least dual meanings: trivially, it means "fishing with a spoonplug", which is a specific brass spoon-type bait; more broadly, it describes the approach to fishing imparted by Buck Perry, which stresses understanding fish movements and behavior and how they relate to lake contours, structure and cover. A large component of BP's methodology involves discerning the lake structure by trolling with spoonplugs, but the more important part is understanding the fish and how to catch them.

So, I advise you get the book and read it. What else do you have to do for the next 4 months? [smilie=2c.gif] [smilie=brickwall.gif]

Gurdmatt,

Welcome to the club! We are going to have two copies of Buck's book at our Banquet which is going to be March 7, 2009 at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing, from 5-10pm.

Hope to see you there!

Great answer, Hemi! I could not have done better.

Gurdmatt, welcome also to the club. I don't know where you live but there's a spoonplugging club which meets monthly in the Grand Rapids area. If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll give more details.

Matt,

The books will be auctioned. Probably at the silent auction…

Hemi is correct in that we will have the two books for sale in the silent auction. Not to mention all of the great lures, Rods, Reels, and terminal tackle.
