Maybe we can talk Kevin into donating a trip for the 2010 banquet! Then again… you might not want to try steelhead. You might give up on muskies completely. Especially if he's got you swinging a spey fly and a 15# buck slams it and about rips the rod out of your hands…
I will have to run that by him, and I need to find a good muskie lake up by him so we can do some lake fishing this summer when we visit.
"Oh man… those skamania would fight to the death."
Yep, they often did. Literally taking their last breath as we tried to CPR them. Depending on the temp and the length of the fight, sometimes we wouldn't even try. They were very good smoked, but I would give them to some older gentlemen who thought it was a great alternative to "meals on wheels"! Definitely a "put and take" fishery, but I believe that some would run in the fall, overwinter, then spawn in Feb. at the first time it touched 39 water temps. Not sure if they ever actually reproduced.

Yes, they would often be some of the first to show in the rivers in fall. BIG fish too, 17-20# wasn't uncommon in early September. Yes, they did spawn in winter on a warm-up. I saw them spawning in late January and February on a couple rivers.
