I debated that, but I was exhausted already. I had 9 hours of sleep in the previous 48. I knew I could have a chance at some more fish, but decided to wait til later this wk.

Forgot to mention it was a 35-36 inch female, as she was dropping eggs when i pulled her from the net.. Quite small for a pre-spawn fish

All the fish we saw were beat up except for the little 31 I got. I think they are spawning now and have been for several days. Water temps were 58 shallow last night. 56 over the main basin. Most likely cools off to 52/53 over night and warms back up during the day. I would say the spawn is almost over by the looks of all the fish we saw including the big girl I had on. Mike

yea the one i caught had a few marks around her mouth and a few on the fins, but no scars on her body like some i saw.

She must of been getting ready to lay her eggs within the next couple of days if not day

I wonder if my transducer sits a little lower in the water than yours. Mine read 51.5 in the morning and got up to 54.5 when I left.

Mine read 53.5 when we started. 56 over the main basin and 58 on the wind swept shallows at the launch at 9 pm. Most other boats are within 1 or 2 degrees of mine. 51 or 53.5 morning temps. Its obvious fish are in the middle of the spawn so Im guessing the temps are where they require it to spawn. Johns fish was running eggs. Michelle's fish was beat up and spawned out. We are only 1.5 different at the end. Mike

Sucks cause my camera was tilted just a little low, so i missed the big headshake / jump after it hit

Interesting to see when im releasing that fish, the spawning scar from a male that must of T-boned her, as you can see part of the big scar behind her gill. You can't see the faded part of the bite, but it was nice and round like the mouth of a smaller male.
