Im posting this thread here for anyone who is interested in building an inexpensive planer board mast system. We have been running these for 10 years now with the same hardware and .080 weed whacker line. Mike

The tubing is 7/8 stainless steel. The bracket is from an old Cabin cruiser and can be found at any boat store that sells railing parts for Cabin cruisers. The tracks are 6 inch Tite Loks and the plates were left over from a set of tite lok double rod holders. Anyone can get the 1/4 inch thick plate and drill and thread it by buying a short piece of aluminum bar stock the right width to fit in the track or just buy two Berts or Pursuit mounting plates. YOU MAY EVEN KNOW SOMEONE WHO WELDS STAINLESS and can simplify this even more. Simple and very tough. I have very little into them and they work much better then a central mast with reels. Mike
here is the entire set up. I also use these masts and rod holders on my big boat. Tracks are ticket . Mike
