Tuesday 10/23 was Michelles day as she boated this sweet 51 incher. We were trolling on the Chain of lakes in the Traverse city area. This fish took a Custom painted White Belly perch Nils off the planer boards. It came on a Slider so she had to hand line it in the last 30 feet. How funny it is. This is the second 51 inch fish she caught on this lure. It has our custom paint job on it. Radio was off, Nothing but the sound of the drag. That is music after 4 days of silence. I think the hardest part of fishing up there is trying to keep your focus over the long dry spells inbetween rips. We fished those lakes for 5 days and didnt scratch the surface of what they are all about. Its big big water and these fish dont act like small lake fish. This one was a true roamer all by herself over open water. She was over a half mile from the nearest point in 32 feet of water. I still dont have a clue as to why she was there. I can say this, if we were not running boards we would have missed her. She hit the slider at 30 feet back with 4 ounces of weight. the lure was probably running down about 8 feet. Im glad we didnt get skunked. It would have been hard to get Michelle to go back next year without that fish. What was really cool was having these huge lakes completly to our selves. Besides a bass fisherman here and there the lakes were empty. That is a lonely feeling when you start thinking about engine failure or bad weather. Anyone going up there in the fall make sure you have a good running engine and full charges on electric motor batteries. Dont cut corners or you may find yourself walking a long way back to your rig . Mike and Michelle
