it wasnt very safe for a largemough either. I was bass fishing while my sons were casting for muskies when I hooked a 16 incher or so when out of no where a nice 40"+ muskies came up and hammered it. It fought for a little while, dropped the bass, then picked it up again and fought for a couple more seconds. We didnt get it in the net, but still a very cool sight to see.
