Scott and I made the trek to "big fish" waters…
we fished Friday afternoon 9-9 on our own, just looked at a map and said
lets go…Bright sunny skies, no wind, 82 degress, not excactly perfect musky weather water temp was 72. I raised one small fish low 40's
on a mag bull dawg in 40ft. of water.. that was it for Friday night.

Saturday we fished with Graham Bristow he showed us around, fished his big fish spots casted our butts off, fished extremely hard and fast
all day, never saw a fish.. weater was sunny 85, no wind, not a cloud in the sky, water temp was 73.

Sunday we fished with Graham again, I moved a low 40" fish on a bucktail over 30ft of water at 9am, then at 7pm I had a mid to upper 40" fish come in under my bucktail then just swam off.. again weather was sunny, 90 degrees, light sw wind water temp up to 74..

Monday Scott and I made the trek about 5 miles from camp, his motor on the nice brand new shiny Ranger 621 was acting up(thank god for kicker motors) Scott had a low 40" fish follow up at 9am on a bucktail in 20ft of water off a rock reef, around 2pm I had a mid to upper 40" fish follow in my mag bull dawg out in 30ft of water turned followed halfway thru my figure 8 then headed back where she came from.. Scotts motor wouldn't start so we decided to head back at to camp at 4pm so we didn't have to navigate the Islands, and rocks in the dark.. weather was sunny, no clouds again, light sw wind temp around 90 again… Just way to hot to fish… water temp was 74……..

So we saw 5 fish in basically 3 and a half days of fishing…Most of you, us included would think this was pretty bad, but we talked to guys at camp who had been there a month, and another who had been there two weeks and they had only seen 1 fish in that time. the weather pretty much screwed us… So all in all we actually did pretty good according to everyone up there..
Georgous area, definately big fish water, seemed really weird casting a 30ft hump that came out of 90ft of water…. Definately not like fishing here in our little puddle lakes… Laugh
I was a little disapointed in not boating one but the scenery was unbeatable..Graham is a great guy, and I highly recommend him if anyone wants to go looking for that fish of a lifetime..I will definately make this a yearly trip from now on… 6hrs from home and every cast could be "that fish"…… Awesome trip, Scott and I will both be going back soon!!

Great story Don. Sorry the snappers weren't snappin. Definately need to put it on the "must do" list. At least you have a feel for the area and can head up there on your own now.

Long weekend? Heck no Bomba, I'm going up for at least a week if I can help it. I'm going to catch that girl over 50 inches if I have to have rotator cuff surgery as a result…never fished a bucktail so fast for so long in my life. It was a great trip, thanks for letting me tag along.
