Started out at 7:00 am Friday morning in Storm front conditions. Winds at 12 to 20 but fishable. Michelle got a 31 incher casting a new colored Little claw(Whitefish) near the big Island over the stumps. I got a fat 40 incher trolling a Tuff Shad. water temps just over 50. Backwaters were much warmer and we chased a couple of big fish around about 150 yds from the launch. They were more interested in each other than any lures we had. It was fun watching them leave wakes as they raced around the shallows. It must have been Love 😀 Temps were falling fast so we quit about 7:00 pm . Slept in and started on the Barbee chain about 8:30 and it was cold (29) . water temps had fallen over night and we had a tough crowd. Saw no fish and hit nothing trolling until Shell caught a 24 incher on a Tuff Shad just before dark. Some green weeds in Kuhn and that was the lake we got the little one in. Decided to go to Skinner for Sunday and found another tough crowd(tight lipped fish) Had one narrow window at about 2:30 when I got a 33 incher on a 2 oz. Spoon painted in the Lake webster shad. Had one other fish hit the same lure 10 casts later also on a figure eight( got them both to hit on figure eights) Hard to see follows as the water was Hudson like in color with that pea green stain to it. Water temps started at 48.9 finished at 52.3 . All in all we caught 4 fish in three days ,not exactly lighting it up but we did get a couple and one was pretty nice . Friday was the best conditions and if you took away the spawn we might have caught many more fish. Sat and sunday were bluebird skies and that makes for some hard Musky fishing. Im beginning to like warm cloudy days . Kingfisher
I probably saw you on Webster. What boat were you in? Michelle and I were in the little 14 foot Jon boat (Sea Ark) with the little 9.9 merc . We pull it with the little silver Chevy Aveo . Did you see Mike Hulbert on Friday? they were in the colorfull Polarcraft(three guys). We Stayed on Webster all day Friday. sure was cold Saturday wasnt it?. We had to stay at the Barbee Hotel over on Little Barbee lake . All I can say is the fishing was tough but we hung in there and kept trying. You must have been screaming at the wind with no trolling motor . You need to get that working or you will be owned by windy days. We like our little boat just fine for out of town adventures as its cheap to run and cheap to pull with the little car. Cost us 16 bucks in gas from Muskegon to North Webster 18 bucks to fill it after I got home. Boat used 7 gallons 2 cycle for three days. I would like to be using our 18 footer but cant bring myself to fill the 30 gallon tank yet or the one ton van that pulls it. We are going to try once again for Leesville on the 21st,22,23rd. Havnt been to Ohio yet this year. Kingfisher
Oh ok, yea I guess we did see you. We were in a red 16 foot lund. We also stayed at the barbee hotel. We got really rowdy and loud and loopy. I hope we didn't piss too many people off friday night. I have never been in a bar with more rednecks in it at one time (barbee landing) Good times, good times.
Adam, we saw your boat in the parking lot at the hotel. Ill know to look you up now if we end up on the same water this year. If you want good food in the Webster area eat at Tammys Too . Get the Fish or the fresh Chicken dinners. The best around and reasonable. Its looking good for us to hit Leesville in Ohio next weekend. Pre front conditions Friday and frontal all weekend. Im chompin at the bit. Kingfisher
