what was with the cut on the fish in that one pic? Do u guys have to do that or is it from something natural
No, that gash isn't supposed to be there and wasn't caused by our efforts. That was probably opened when the fish went through the dam. There weren't corresponding teeth marks that would be there if another muskie (or bear) had chomped him.

yes, fun time. Makes you feell like a little kid again. But try explaining to a 7yr. old why Will was smelling his fingers [smilie=bangtard.gif]
Muskies smell good! I explained that to all the kids.

and why they were going to put a open for drilling sign on the back of Will waders. [smilie=brickwall.gif]
God love kids!!!
That I can't explain. I think the sign actually said Danger Keep Out, which is quite appropriate.

[quote="hemichemi"]Some inquiring minds want to know: how many, what sizes, WTH did that spotty come from, were any tagged, etc?
I believe we only netted 13, two of which had tags already in them.
I think they ranged from 30"to38".
Sounds about right.
Tom, does 151 sound familiar? She was one of yours and back in the lake now. I don't remember the tag number of the other fish.
The spot is probably just a variation of those fish but we all agreed we hadn't seen one that spotted. None of these fish get a genetic test from their dorsal spine sample, it is only for aging – that fish WILL get a genetic test.
Yes, 151 does sound familiar… I think I had all the 150s. I'll have to look at my notes.
I've never seen any muskie in Ovid that had any prominent markings; they've all looked like Northern Strain, with only the faintest of (mainly striped) markings but usually almost none at all, and certainly never any even faintly spotted ones.
Maybe an oops in Iowa?

Do they have any ideas on fixing that overflow?
I've been working on selling a research project to an interested person/University but as of now don't have a committment. Eventually I will find someone that will be able to work on an electric barrier research project that should eliminate spillover.

Fish 47-151 was one I tagged on 9/30/08 and it was 28.25" long at that time.Did you record its length on Sunday?
Hahaha, I already knew that. Note in my original post I said it was one of yours. Yes the length was recorded but I don't rememeber what it was and I'm not the keeper of the data and I didn't take the time to copy down what we recorded. I'll get all of our relocation data and post it eventually.
