I have been requested to ask the members of MMA if anyone is available on Wed. (11/5) to help out with the harvesting of the muskies out of the ponds. These fish will all have to be hand counted, put on the truck, and shipped off to our favorite muskie waters. The pond will start to be drained on Tues., and be low enough to gather up the fish on Wed. This week was tough on the workers there, seeing as how we have RECORD numbers of fish, so any help would be much appreciated!
Start time will be at 10:00 am. You will need to bring either a pair of waders, or long rubber boots. The DNR has limited supply of rubber boots, so if you don't have any, first come, first served, I guess!
If you are ablewilling to help, please post it here, so I have a number of bodies to report.
Just for a little info… Hamlin was just stocked with… *drumroll please* 12,500 muskies, ranging from 10"-13" long.
Hamilton will be there. Helping at the hatcheries is just like old times for me. I love it. FYI Brian Mulherin got photos both days of the Hamlin Lake stocking. He'll have a PR article in the LDN. Also, remember to save a couple of the smaller muskies for your education jar. After next year you'll have the full culture cycle for a neat display at the Fish Fest booth.
I saw the stocking list in Matt's office, but I don't have a photogenic memory. All I remember is the important lakes i.e. Murray, Campau, Ovid. The ones that are closer to me! Those 3 are dead last on the list, and probably won't get hit. Sanford I believe wasn't on the list. A lot of lakes were in the U.P. and northern L.P. Of course, Thorn and Hudson were in some of the first batches. I remember seeing something about Manistique?

Steve,
If they put 10,000 more in Hudson I honestly don't think my odds would go up…..

This isn't going to make you feel better BUT… Historically Hudson has one of the highest fish per acre ratios of any water in the state.
Problem is… there is sooooo much to eat in there that they aren't hungry very often.

Ill settle for the fish I am getting in Ludington. Its only 40 minutes for us and in a couple years it should be putting out some mid 30's fish. My Retirement lake ha ha ha . [smilie=2thumbsup.gif] Mike
