Maybe I should re-word this…….."roll call for wixom"??If there is lack of interest…maybe we should shit can this outing?? I have interest in fishing the waters, and spending a day with the midland guys,pete,brian,dan,ron,bomber,scrappy,etc..How many guys came last year Scott??I think you just met with a few and had subs or something…We can always get together and fish.If there is only 5-6 people not worth anyones efforts,secretary/fig 8 newsletter, outings support,etc..

I have been away for a while, my first time seeing the post. And for the record… my name is BrYan….with a freakin Y to all who use my name…lol
I'm up for helping, but as we grow closer to this outing we'll need an idea of who wants to come. Wixom has given up some pigs. It is very big vast water, compared to the little overstocked ponds in swmichigan area. Ron caught a fat fat 30lber last season on wixom casting. I have done good there casting, i know of people who prefer to troll and do ok.
I'm sure a few other midland guys will chip in also. Just as we get closer we will need a closer roll call.

on the other hand if you guys decide to do away with it, cause it sounds like that's the case…oh well. There's always another lake.

I tried to stay out of this, hoping that Dave would get a better response than I would from the Sanford/Midland area. Unortunately, I'm not feeling very PC or polite today so…

This outing just needs someone to set it up, this stuff isn't rocket science. If people are going to come they need to know:
Where it will be held?
Where to launch and where it's located?
What time does the outing start? (if there is a start or early meeting time at the launch)
What time is lunch and what is it? (could also be a meeting time and BYO)
What is the charge for lunch if there is one?
Will there be raffle prizes?
Where to find a place to stay if they're coming from a distance?
Who is the contact for questions on the outing?

To put this info together and get it to Dave so he can get it to Fred for the newsletter should take a half hour. Heck… by the time I typed this I could have been halfway done with planning the event. Then again, if I had done that I would be accused, once again, of this being MY club and that I do everything how I want it done…

Someone step up and get this handled, PLEASE.

We need to create some interest and let people know there will be an outing before deciding to can it. Same happened last year with Ovid in June, no one took care of the preparation and therefore no one was interested because they didn't know what was happening.

The schedule was decided back in November for 2007 but nothing more than the dates have been given to most of the members. Remember, the newsletter is out communication to the members not here on the forum.

I will be glad to help out, baring work, I work days, but i'm on call on wknds for OT. I find out fridays what my wknd schedule will be like, granted I would have to work. I can help set things up and get the ball rolling, but as far as saying I can be a lock to be there and help is tough not knowing if I have to work that wknd.

I've been in trial for what feels like forever and this is the first I'm seeing this. Sorry for the late response. I'm happy to help with this. First, I just need to get a feel for how many folks will attend so I can get a sub made up, I will buy the subs, chips and drinks as a donation to the club. I also have a roll of tickets if we want to have a raffle for lures. Will, does the club have any lures they can donate for a raffle? Also, if anyone is willing to donate lures we can add them to the raffle table too. The DNR launch gets a little busy that time of year but should be fine. I'll talk to Greg Stryker and see if he will donate his launch for our use but that is his peak season so I don't know if he will.

There is not an inventory of lures/merchandise at this time.

Something like the following would be great to have for all outings. Granted this was handed out at a sport show but something like this geared toward our members plus a flyer that could go up at local shops would be great to get some attention.

Intermediate Lake Muskie Outing
May 20th, 2006 – Thurston Park
Begins at 9:00 AM (1:00 Lunch)

Novice and Expert are welcome. Bring a friend, or two, or three and see what it is all about! The fishing world is buzzing about musky fishing lately come and see why. You do not need to be a “Musky Fisherman” to attend this event. There will be many members of Muskies, Inc. Present to help you try and catch one of these magnificent fish. Come and learn why Muskies are so important to the ecosystem. Hear from regional Biologist Mark Tonello about the current stocking programs.

Would you like to fish but don’t have a boat or even equipment? There are a limited number of seats available on a first come first serve basis with members of the MMA. Contact me through the E-mail listed or at this phone number 231-883-8349. Just want to talk Muskies? Meet with us at lunch time and talk some strategy or location and learn about the club.

Contact: Kevin Kimble 231-883-8349 or e-mail – ** you do not have permission to see this link **

Got it on the notice and on the lures. I'll see if I can get folks to donate some for a raffle on my own. When can I submit a note for you to put in the Newsletter?

Earlier, Dave asked who was interested or going to the event. I am planning on attending but don't know yet if Fred will be able to make it. It might be helpful if we had some kind of "scouting report" or informational meeting before the outing, in my opinion, like we have done in past years for Thorn, ect. This could be during a MMA monthly meeting at Gander or simply some current general info and/or strategy on the members only site. Some of us (me) have never been there or know very little about this location. I will be checking out the map to see where the launches are, ect. Are we meeting at a park or main launch? Is this a numbers "lake" or small population but good average size fishery? I'm assuming it will like fishing the river channel on Sanford. Otherwise, does the lake map show much in the way of structure? Any advance info prior to the event would be welcome. Thanks!
