finlander, Please let me explain 'GLS patience'.

You know Hamilton has had several years of GLS patience before the MMA was founded and was very excited when a few dedicated 'musky nuts' he didn't know got together to form MMA to help the DNR advance the state muskie program. That was a huge step #1!
The DNR finally had the morale support and justification they needed and was able to revive the muskie culture program as a big step #2, including the Iowa fish boost with help from MMA.
An important step #3 was quiet in the background making sure the boring stuff like writing the fishery management plans, remedial action plans, and watershed management plans all included the GLS as native specie reintroduction. That was on Hamilton's watch for his area of the state.
Then came the frustration years of diversions with muskie pox and VHS diseases to get back on track as major step #4. MMA kept up the morale support with the Iowa fish.
Year 2008 looks like a step #5 shaping up to get the muskie culture technology back on track and preparation tech changes needed for the GLS future.
Year 2009 things may happen for GLS as step #6, but the DNR still controls the start-up and stocking sites.

Will has been telling Hamilton to have patience every year. I've thus decided to plan on steps #7-#10 to allow for more delays and other stocking sites. If West Michigan hits on year 2013 for GLS, I can claim 20-years of 'GLS patience' since I993 when I saw my first 48" female GLS while taking eggs at Indian River to help start up their Green Bay program.
That is 'GLS patience'. [smilie=grandpa.gif]

I didn't want the novel, just the Reader's Digest version. By then my back wont allow me to cast. And those fish would be small too. Years to grow after that. So, can we get some stripers up here???

The DNR district managers are reviewing a GLS plan which will take a month or two. Once they review the plan and return it to the esocid committee for implementation, I'll be glad to share what will be happening. This is where things can stall or change drastically, I don't want to spend the next two weeks discussing something that is still in the plan phase. We already did that with the mortality study…
