I use 20" 130# Flouro for most baits and 18" single strand wire for bulldawgs. I don't like sevenstrand for anything other than jigs. I build all my own leaders using only splitrings to attach lures instead of snaps.

A Manta will work with any kind of leader and in my opinion works better with a single strand wire or a stiff flouro leader.

Do you leave the split rings on the leader, or do you have one on each lure and attach to the solid rings on your leaders? Which size split ring?

Hey, Will. If you'd like to make a few xtra $$, I gladly pay for some quality leaders handmade by a pro. My last leaders I bought were Bucher 7 strand 95lb. I hate the clips on there, and one of them, I only got about 8hrs before the steel frayed and snapped.

I don't want the money but I would be happy to give you a couple and show you how I build them so you can build your own. The materials are pretty cheap and they're easy to build.

No problem! Maybe at the Ovid outing we can find the time to look at leaders. I will only be there for the morning but we can hook up on the water around 11 and go over the leader deal.
