From the April newsletter…
On March 16th, the members of the Coolwater Regulations Steering Committee met to discuss the progress of the esocid regulations. The discussion was short, since little progress had been made on the muskellunge regulations by the esocid committee and managers, and the proposed pike regulations weren’t completely ready for review. This delay, combined with some disagreement within the fisheries division, particularly on size limits, had forced a change in the date when we might see new regulations on muskellunge. While the original goal was to have new regulations ready for 2012, that goal has now changed to 2013. The committee will meet again in June to discuss suggested pike regulations, and I would suspect shortly after that there will be a public comment period. Muskellunge regulations will be discussed in the fall, and a comment period will likely be in early 2012.

I know this isn't a "pike" forum but if anyone knows how this went or what changes, if any, will be proposed I would love to hear about it.

Nothing is public at this point. We (Coolwater Regulations Committee) will review the proposed options in August, make suggestions, then if ready it will go to a public comment period in the fall.
