I have been in a couple long discussions about releasing muskies on other forums. This just came to me from a young man on another forum and I thought I would share it. If we stick to our guns, we can make a difference.
I love his quote from The Matrix. That's a great attention getter for a show booth!
If this whole discussion only gets two people to release their "trophy" and get a replica instead, it was worth it.u said this in one of the forums that has been closed
jus thought u would like to know that u have changed my mind about taking any trophy sized fish out of the water, i have always been catch and release, from the time i was 5 till now, but i never knew that u could get a replica, and thats what i will do if i ever run into a trophy sized fish,(im only 15 so i have lots of time to) so your arguement on that forum was worth your time.
there are not many people who will put a trophy fish back in the water, and that is why there are not many trophy fish in the lakes. as said in one of the matrix movies "humans are not mamals, becuase every other mamal adapts to its surrounding areas, but humans do not, they destroy all resources and then move on. The only other species to do that is a virus." that is what we are doing to the fish and muskies in michigan.(though i have never caught a muskie, since i have been 5 it has been my main objective)
jus thought that u would like to know that there is some1 on your side
I'm keeping this around for when I get frustrated!
"Now instead of catching muskies for a while we could all just go out and catch ignorant fisherman and teach them a lesson they wont forget."
Teach yes. But maybe lighten up on punishment for the ignorance of many folks. I can't believe how rough and dumb I handled fish the first few years I was learning. I'm light years ahead now in that department, with the right net, release tools and the camera set-up. But it took time to learn (and buy) that stuff. Still learning – today I learned the 80* rule.
