I was told from by a co-worked, that his father pulled a dead muskie off the bottom of Upper Crooked Lake in Delton last week. His father claims the fish was "still fresh". He tells me the fish measured 49 3/4" long. He has apparently sent belly fat samples to the DNR. I suppose they could get there from Lower, but I've never heard of them being seen or caught in Upper. Thoughts?
I've heard of muskies in the upper a few times.
When it comes to muskies, if there's any possible way for them to move from lake to lake or river to lake or lake to river they'll find a way to do it.
The only part of the story that seems odd is the part about sending belly fat samples to the DNR. Genetic testing can be done from a fin clip.
grass pickerel look a lot like a baby muskie too and would be in that 8-14" range. LC seems like ideal habitat for them too. Would be pretty cool to have wild muskies in there though…

I've caught one and lost one on upper in quite a bit of pike and bass fishing there. A few around that got in from lower and each time I've tried more seriously for musky there I get no contact at all. So it seems density is so low I don't think it's worth targeting them. But a good overall fishing lake that might show that very rare bonus musky.
The small esocids I've caught on lower were pike, while doing OK on musky there in years past but not the last few tries.
