Im going up next week for a few days, and have talked to a couple guys about where to go. But, the lake I fail to ask about every time is manistique. so basically, has anyone been there, and are the planted fish doing anything??? Ill find 'em myself, and figure the rest out, but I guess I'm just wondering if its worth my time. if I don't get much info I suppose I'll have a report for anyone that asks nicely next week!
thanks

I don't have much input but will give you what I know. I've fished South Manistique and talked to locals while there. From all I've heard, it's a very low density lake. The DNR did supposedly net a 54" several years ago.

North Manistique has a very much unimproved, shallow boat ramp. Be prepared to wade while launching. Have heard several reports on the forum of many small muskies speared during ice fishing.

I read once where Big Manistique had one planting, although fish could migrate from both North and South. However, at 10,000 acres for a very small population, it would be a challenge.

Again, I don't have much experience on any of these lakes but thought I'd add what little I know. Good luck!

South Manistique has had the most plants over the years but it is an extremely hard lake to see a muskie on. I have spent 3 weeks up there over the past several years and have yet to have a legit follow. It is a beautiful lake with awesome structure great weeds and cool drop offs. But the fishing is tough, makes Sanford look easy. Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I kinda figure it will be tough fishing if I stop. and, I should probably let it go until I can focus on the lake for a few days straight and really figure it out. so I Imagine Ill keep going north and west from there.

Both lakes are great places to not catch a muskie. South has walleye and both have pike. Head to the river for muskies.
