I will be camping by Pictured Rocks next week and specifically hoping to camp at Kingston lake. I was just wondering if there are any other musky lakes close to Kingston which also have a good hiking trail on them? I know Kingston has muskies and I also love the hiking trail from Kingston to Lake Superior, so am I wondering if there is another lake pretty close which I can hike around and then take a couple casts while I am there? I will be with my gf and the trip is more focused on camping and hiking so not looking for fishing destinations for the week. Just looking for a nearby lake which my gf and I can hike around and then I can take a couple casts for muskies before I leave.
Cusino is probably the closest lake. Might be tough casting from the shore though. If I remember it's pretty shallow near the shore….at least by the campsite anyway. On a side note, I caught my biggest bass on that lake. It was 8 lbs 10oz, 23 1/4". Thought it was a musky when it hit. Needless to say, I was still pretty exited.
Good luck

Not sure, probably just forest. Maybe Duke can shed some more insight on that question. If there is any trails I'm sure they've been less traveled than the ones closer to Superior. Therefore not marked as well. Never the less, it's beautiful scenery around Cusino, Gemini, and Ross lakes. Plus, if it rains, you shouldn't have any problem driving two tracks around there.

I didn't realize it until you said it, but I actually camped at South Gemini last year as all the campground right on Superior were full. I might have to take a drive one day and check out Cusino just to see what it is all about. Thanks!

I don't believe there are any established trails near Cusino, but very similar scenery to what you saw around Gemini.
I camped at Cusino years back and fished it a total of maybe 10 hours. Nice water quality, not much weeds, and I did not contact a fish. Lots of sand, and great for swimming from the campsite.
As mentioned, I don't remembe much in the way of hiking trails.
I would say shore fishing options would be better from Kingston in regards to probability of actually having luck.
Have a fun trip!
