Some of you have probably been in my shoes on this one – Dad (age 76) and a brother want to catch a musky, but are willing to commit one or two attempts a year, each for not more than 3-4 hours on the water during mid-day hours, complaining much of the time that I can't get a muskie on their line. This time we're trying Round lake since the location is convenient for them and we struck out last time in our attempt on Austin (I had contact there and we could've boated a fish if they didn't have the patience of 2-year olds). In any case, my desperate attempts at this ultimate challenge continue this weekend on Round, my first ever visit there. The map shows just one basin, I assume I'll search the perimeter of that for the best weed growth and contours, but there are extensive flats that might hold promise in some areas? In any case, any tips for this lake are much appreciated, thanks!

😯

After watching you patiently and methodically work the entire (I think!) periphery of Thornapple last Sunday, I can imagine your frustration at their impatience!

However all I can offer is empathy, since I've never been to Round Lake, and don't have any two-year-olds anymore… Except, have you tried bribing them with candy? [smilie=biggrin.gif]

Thanks, I might try bribery, I really want to see them catch a musky but they have to try more than they do. They cancelled a longer Ovid outing I had planned earlier in the year, where I thought we could troll and likely connect, and I then took another brother there for his first ever muskie (trolling). I'll keep trying, it feels great to put a family member or friend on their first muskie, but it can be really aggravating getting to that point too.

Dont be afraid to troll the edge around Round lakes eastern basin. There are good weeds along the southeastern edge if I remember right. The south western corner of the basin was the only place where Michelle and I moved a fish. 7 feet of water on a Bucktail. Check out the west side of the basin along the sandbar as well. It looked good the last time I was there. Good luck you will need it there. Mike
