I never saw this during the show season and forgot about it until someone posted in over on First.

I hope everyone gets to hold a 50" fish someday, they are truly special. It may seem that 50" fish are common these days but they are truly a rare fish. The fish in the video (link below) is indeed something that is super rare and just getting a crack at her was a one in a million. I've seen two fish of this caliber and only wish I had a shot this good at either one.

Enjoy!

Damn! Any guess on that one?

Almost ashamed to admit I was glad to see Cyberlunge's idol blow that one.

I've been going to the Simply Fishing website for a few months now every so often to see that clip. I wish i could get a better look at the body shape but the head screams mid 60# range, maybe more?
The first time I saw that clip I knew that was the most massive musky I had ever laid eyes on. No question.
I lost not one but two fish in the mid-forty pound range while in Ontario this past August, while that crushed my spirits, I was pretty much over it in a couple weeks. If I lost that fish Bob lost I would vomit for a year straight [smilie=bangtard.gif]

If you look at the video real close, and pause it at the right second. You can see a 78 VW bug, and a small child in its mouth! That is a monster! Bob must have said a few words in his head that were not caught on Vid when that jackpot came flying back at him!

I think she was in the 58" range and though it would be tough to put a weight on her with such a limited look I'm thinking 55 pounds.

That is amazing… not just that ridiculously big fish, but the fact that mr. a$$bag gets to fish every day on the best water in the world, gets paid to do it, and is THE WORST muskie fisherman I have ever seen in my entire life. What a joke.

quick question about the first clip (and again I might not know this because I am just starting) but why doesn't he go into a figure 8 on that fish? Ive had fish hit this year on a weagle doing a figure 8 so I know they will hit at boat side.

I think you will find the answer to this question in Dukes response.

Also, he could have caught that first fish about 12 feet from the boat on that lure.

I have caught fish on the figure 8 with a jackpot. Mesikomer is not known for his figure 8 ing skills. He even admits it. I have one of his videos where almost falls in the lake laughing so hard because he did get one on an 8 with a spinner bait. The second fish was something from dreamland. That is the biggest open mouth I have ever seen on a fish. The fact that the 7 inch Jackpot looked like a pin minnow in its mouth was unnerving. 50 to 60 pounds probably, but compared to that 60 incher that one one must have been 80" plus eh? I have lost two really big fish. One of them I never saw except for it wallowing in my prop wash. Ill never forget the sounds of cracking plastic as the roberts rod holder twisted around or the total loss of being able to think clearly while we dragged this fish (my son and I ) unable to get the rod out of the holder. We were just getting started and were doing everything wrong. Picture this scenario, 10 inch hooker bait,80 lb braid line ok so far right? the rest was all wrong, old yardsale 309 penn with frozen drag,6 foot st croix cuestick rod and a plastic Roberts rod holder. that was 1997 on thornapple.

I got to see one on my line for near 7 minutes that was about 54/55 inches and near 35 Pounds in the U.P. casting a S.S. SHAD. . Almost got her in the net 3 times . This fish struck in less than 1 foot of water on the edge of a lilly pad bed so you can imagine the scene when I set the hook. It was all air with lilly pads flying, mud sticks in the air. It was the most savage thing I have ever whitnessed. After that she came right at me. I had her on free spool for over 5 minutes because the one hook barb was holding to a little strip of lip skin on the end of her snoot. I followed her around and gently tried to ease her into the net three times but she was not having any of it. Im with Merics, I would puke for a year if I lost that fish. Im still trying to break the 40 pound mark,Mike

Duke, I have always enjoyed your commentary, and this is some of your best yet! [smilie=applause.gif]

Sadly, that guy's look and the setting for the photo (on land with a dead fish) go very well together! Very predictable!

Does it surprise anyone when I say that this guy I met on the water this spring decided it was prudent to kill this (46") fish?
