I would go out to the Shipping channel off 9 mile road. There is a nice trough a 17/18 feet just before it drops into the Shipping Channel. Launch at 9 mile and go straight out until you hit 17 feet then troll back and forth in there along the big bouys that mark the channel. Michelle and I caught some nice one in there. Also the dumps can be pretty productive it they are not swollen with floating weed junk. In fact the area right at the invisible line between Canada and the U.S waters produces some real big fish. Just make sure you stay on the U.S.Side. G.P S . is very Important. But Launching out of nine mile gives you nice landmarks(towers) . Also it is a straight shot out to the middle. Just stop at the line and go north and south. Mike
The closer to the boat you run, the more weight you'll need to keep those baits down due to the lift of the blades. You'll have to keep a close eye on it, especially being close to the propwash turbulence. If those blades get out of rythym or you pick up a tiny weed and the bait starts to barrel roll, you'll need to catch it quick! I don't care how many swivels you are using!
In the prop wash I would use at least 6 ounces and around 40 feet back. We ran them 40 back off the boards with 4 ounces when Michelle got her 55. But rick right on. They get weeded up and will spin twisting your line into a worthless mess. If its weedy stay with cranks. 25 back and 2 ounces on the boards and like 35 and 3 ounces on the wash rods. Down rod 6 to 10 feet back with like 10 ounces. Mike
These are the baits that I have to run, I am assuming I should run all like baits at one time to prevent fouling or can a put out a variety of baits to see what they want?

There are two rod holders in the very back are nthose rods the wash rods or the down rods? The rods in the middle wont have boards I figured those were the down rods but I am not sure after Mikes reply. The front rods are the longest and will have the boards attached to them. Critique this set up I still have a coupkle of days to adjust.

Thanks guys I am getting pretty excited about figuring this trolling thing out. Now if I could only go down there and not even take a casting rod!!
Your set up is correct. Middle are down rods. rear are wash and the front ones go to the boards. I agree better get latches on those lids. As for baits run Lokes and Wileys and Slashers together. Leave the Nils at Home . Those dont go until Fall. Buck tails have to run somewhat slower then those mentioned cranks. Pair up the buck tails with the Believers. Give me a call if want to talk some more on your set up. Mike
