Hey guys cause of my health I'm going to have to start trolling next year and looking for advice on rods and line counter reels. If anyone can help out I would greatly appreciate it.

Maybe you could talk to Jason. He was doing some research on this recently.

I invested quite a bit into my trolling game the past couple years.
I didn't shell out cash for the best stuff out there, but have serviceable equipment that has put some quality fish in the boat.
I troll anywhere from 3-6 rods. I have Okuma Convector 30's on all rods. I also prefer mono to braid.
Rods are: 2 Ugly Stick Tiger 7' MH for down rods, 2 Shimano TDR 8' Heavy for out rods, and Shimano TDR 9' for the planer boards.
I am not an expert on trolling, but have come a long ways in the past few years.
Any questions you have I will answer best I can!

I have good luck with the ugly stik big water boat rods and I've heard good things about the ugly stik tigers and shimano tdr's as well. They're reasonably priced and really more than enough to get the job done. I started out with okuma Magda reels and have since upgraded to their coldwater reels. The magdas were ok but I like to jam out the stereo at times and found the bait clickers to be a little too soft on the ears. I would recommend 35-50 lb sunline supernatural monofilament for your mainline. Will turned me on to it and it's some awesome stuff. If you don't have planer boards yet id suggest the or12 offshore boards with upgraded release to the or-18. Get a set of the mag boards if you're going to run hard pulling baits. The TX 44s by church are good boards but the mags are better imo. If you want to see some of the aforementioned you're more than welcome to jump in boat anytime next season.
