Guys,

I'm trying to get into trolling a little more but was looking for a little basic advice. I'm going to be fishing smaller inland lakes mainly, so not looking for advice on LSC or anything like that.

Basically the advice I'm looking for is this:

What rods to get
What reels to get
What line to use
What leaders to use

I was at LeMay's talk about Ovid, which helped out a lot, but I'm looking for other opinions too.

It would be best to call me because typing it is like several pages. I will say this, Ugly Stick Catfish Rods 29.99 at Walmart. For trolling cranks up to 10 inches are the best rods we have ever used. They have the meat where you need it on a trolling rod. 7 feet long one piece Glass composite. Reels are all Okuma Convectors with Mason P-Line 30 lb. I run 90 lb steel on inland lakes and 60 lb Tri lene Big Game on St. Clair or anywhere else that requires inline weights. When I went with this set up my hooking percentage went to almost 100 percent. For running Lokes,Slashers and any other Musky bait under 10 inches this combination is the best . I have used more expensive rigs and had terrible results. But_____ I use 3 different setups for three different bait groups. Call me 231-821-9020. Leave your number and Ill call you back as I have unlimited long distance. Mike and Michelle

Is there any easy usable graphs that will tell you LURE TYPE, LINE OUT, SPEED = ?? DEPTH? You know when you buy a lure, on the back it says say… 4-8' Casting, 12-20' Trolling. I think that's about what a 9" Grandma says. I'm assuming you also have to somehow figure in the lineleader strength for loss because of drag on the thicker dimentions?
