Anyone know what the cisco's (sp) look like up there and what would be a good lure for them?

I just sent one to Joe Bednar. Its a sinking model Little Claw in Black backed cisco. It is all pearl white with a slight bluish tint. I would recomend a bluish to purplish color pattern. We got a nice one a couple years back on a Rainbow Sucker Little Claw. That is shape shifting Chameleon lilac scale shot over a light brown base. Its kind of a Glowing pinkish purple with brown bleeding through. Look to mimic trout and black sucker. Kingfisher

Do you mean you want to catch lake herring (cisco) or are you asking for lures that look like them? I assume the latter but just want to be sure.

If you're looking for lures to imitate I wouldn't go out of my way to add a bunch of lures. Sucker and perch colored lures catch the majority of the fish in those waters, some big fish too.

That is what I ment. I just don't think landing a herring would be that great. Thanks for the input. I

have had a few follows in the last three years but never put one in the boat up there. It probably has more to do with my retrive speed, but a more realistic lure would be sweet too.

King, Whats the basic difference in action betweem the little claw and the slashers? Different uses?

Lureless if you look in the photo part of this web page you will see some of kingfisher's Slasher's. Theirs one I had custom painted that I would think would work great up their.

Thanks LeMay

Expect 50-100+ angler hours per fish up there.

wouldn't late in the season up there be more of a time to switch to cisco color type baits? All the muskie hunter articles you read say that cisco at some point like in oct or nov move shallow to spawn.

The Little Claw and new Claw are both better casting lures than trollers. They are flat like a Jake and have a belly roll and can be wicked when twitched and ripped. The Slasher is a Lake St. Clair style Trolling lure. Best used at speeds over 3.5 mph. I have however got a couple of Pike to eat them casting. The Slasher is brand new in 2006 so the book is still being written on the applications for this lure. There are three basic version of Little Claws and Claws. Twitch version (floating Jerkbait type crank) crank version has thicker lip and dives deeper, this version can be trolled. the third version is a weighted of either twitch or crank. Mike and Michelle

Sometimes it's good to stand out from the crowd…

I saw the one in the pic post that is sweet. I definitely think its a lot of work up there, but I am in for it on those waters. Too beautiful… My brother married into a small cottage on Torch, so a few years ago he heard about the monsters up there and started a musky tourney with old friends most of whom fish very little. Its been 4 years with none landed but one h-ll of a lot of booze and cards at night. I saw two for sure last year and a third I couldn't tell pike or musky because it was deep and flew by.
