3) Realfish Bullhead
4) One-pound Dawg
5) 13.2 oz Suzy Sucker

I love throwing the giant Suzy Sucker and Giant Bulldawg, even though I haven't caught anything on them yet. The 5 that I WON'T be throwing are:
1. DeepThreat – That is a TROLL ONLY lure in my opionion so I won't be THROWing it.
2. 13-inch Believer(well, maybe once or twice)
3. Squirrly Burts, I prefer weighted burts
4. Burmek Lure
5. Beetle Spin

The squirrely Burt is a fish catchin' SOB. One of the best throw-backs. Holoform perch or cisco colored……..oh and it helps to have John's modifications!!!! No follows……..just open mouths.

My list is kinda built on jaded experience…

1.) anything gapens
2.) anything bagley
3.) anything bucher
4.) anything rizzo
5.) anything willgle

the first three all break or swell (for me anyway) the fourth, seriously the guy is a tool, the fifth catches too many fish and hurts my arm, I had to retire my magnum willgle in "snootch to the bootch" pattern after one day due to forearm cramping. Plus when it hits the water you can hear the faint sounds of "Jungle Love" resounding in the echoes of the impact.

Curious as to why you think Tony Rizzo is a tool ?( besides keeping a large fish from Rowan now and then)

Slimeball-
A few interviews where he was talking trash about people and a visit to Wisconsin. I had a lot of respect for what he did in the pioneering stages of the sport but he seems to have gotten real angry about others getting involved. We met someone in Wisconsin, I believe it was his son??, and that meeting did not do anything to improve my opinion of him. Then the infamous "only I can see the fish" article sealed my opinion. He is probably an okay guy and does not deserve the label I have given him, but the Big T is one of the stupidest looking lures I have ever seen, although it probably works just fine. The worst insult however was catching a sucker on a Rizzo Wiz, of which there is photographic evidence to haunt me forever. So no real great reason, I would still push mesikohmer into a puddle so Tony wouldnt have to get his feet wet walking through it.

The Rizzo Big T is an ok bait. I read an article about using one and how it will bring muskies closer to the boat so have a sucker out and sure enough when I used them together, I caught muskies on the sucker. The lure must have 20 or 30 BB's in it. It runs nice and deep, too. It doesn't figure-8 good at all, it tips over.
I read some of his books and he probably has more pictures of dead muskies than any I have seen. But back in the old days, that is what they used to do.

Why do most of you not like the squirrley burts. I am new and just bought a few. Any modifications or suggestions.

Ok, I will tell you why I don't like them. Number 1, it seems you almost have to modify it, to get it to work at all. Number two, I suck (and so do most people) at attempting to modify any lure. And wouldn't you think Pete Maina would know by now that all of these lures arn't tuned properly and maybe tell some of the guys at the factory to fix it? I would…

I have heard though that the Labaron boys know how to make a squirlly burt dynomite. So get a hold of them.

I kinda sound like an ***hole in that last post. So let me correct myself and say, " I probably am the only muskie fisherman who cannot correct the action on his baits" I have tried, and its just not my bag.

Michelle and I will not be throwing or trolling
#1 Bradrock Molly baits (cheese)
#2 Burmek B1 ( Jurassic cheese)
#3 Bucher prop baits ( Linburger Cheese)
#4 Poes Giant jackpots (Swiss Cheese)
#5 Mantas ( Butt Cheese)
Biggest dissapointments in 2006( Mantas, Depth Raiders, Slammers). Grandma paint jobs( falling off the tape) . Best new discovery for us was the Mordas Minnow and Slasher combination. Oh and TOMS BULL DAWG. Glitter Oil. All black Bucktails >))))))):> .

One of the biggest keys that the LeBaron's do is to balance the gliding action of the bait by shaving the appropriate side of the lip (as shown in the package). I think where most people go wrong is that they trim too much off at a time. Just a minor amount needs to be removed (in most cases) to get the bait gliding equal amounts to each side. Not many of them run well out of the box.

Pete doesn't have anything to do with the company, he hasn't for a few years. At the time of the sale to Drifter, he told me the Magic Maker would never be made from plastic… you see how much control he had over that. It might take a little tuning but for the most part the sq-burt runs how he wanted it to run, which might not be what you expected.
