Going to be trolling St Clair with my dad, never tried the area at all. Any tips on locations or any other information would be sweet! I'll be running some Wiley's for the most part, believers, the usual. Thanks again for any tips!

I have only been there a couple of times so this could be way off, but I hear the fish basically start out on the American side (Anchor bay, Metro beach, etc) in the early season and then start to transition to the middle of the lake in the heat of the Summer. So I would just troll around Anchor bay looking for difference in water color (dirty vs. clear), new/green weeds, etc. Looking for packs of other boats can be a good sign as well, but it's just not that fun to follow other people around.

I would only go to the Canadian side and would start between belle river and the puce. Shallow is generally numbers and deeper for big fish but every day and every year is different.

I know I'm kinda late on this. But I have trolled the dumping grounds on opener before and been rewarded it's got shallow structure and weeds. Plus has access to deep water very close I have fished it both spring and fall and always see fish. And on a good note not very many boats are out there. I don't know what your boat size is but I take my 16'5" out there and it can get rougher soo be careful. We just usually troll the length of the grounds on the map back and forth and in s patterns you'll get bit. Bakers 5" have been our best bait for that area. When we cast I like to drift cast over the structure areas.

Yeah the dumping grounds looked good when I was checking out the map, either be fishing my 20' alumaweld or the old mans sweet new Lund. Those Bakers have been good baits, especially that Goldie.

I think the hardest part of the trip will be dragging my dad away from those northern Michigan walleye
