I'll give an update when both are complete, I'm not going to bug them to get the details each day when it simply doesn't matter. Please keep in mind that the next couple months is the busiest time of year for the fisheries division. Lots of long days in the field, even for the biologists, and they have to try to keep up with regular work. If I happen to get down to the lake and talk with them I'll pass any info along.

Sorry, no pictures of any going into LC. I had to help move fish.

Any GLS caught? Was this all done in just one net pull then?
4 GLS. Fish were moved today and Monday. There's too much going on right now so they pulled nets today. This wasn't a real sampling effort for GLS but was a much better return per soak than last year.
Surprising number of 20 year old fish moved and an equally surprising number that were already spawned out.

Wow! It still amazes me how old these fish can live! The one from the 'Scan and dorsal spine clip' picture looks to have a pretty thick tail. I'm sure everyone if wondering what the biggest fish moved was?? hehe
50.5 was the largest.
So with liberal season closures and MSL's you struggle in large waterbodies with plenty of food to find outliers at 17, but with restrictive season closures and higher MSL's 20 is no problem. Got it. But as someone once said "For those that want to let blind tradition impede progress and deny the fact that there is something better – more power to you, and more fish for those of us who are open to enlightenment."
I'm trying to figure out how they do this. I know they have a lot of room around the launch at Hudson. So I guess they set all there stuff around there. Does the truck fill up with water from the launch. How much water. How many fish can fit in safely? What scares me is the long drive to Orchard. Monday there is supposed to be showers and T-storm, will they still do this? Curious about how many they get and what's the biggest?

It doesn't take much room at all a few net pens in the water and a table to process fish, assuming they'll be checking each for pit tags and tagging any that aren't tagged.
They'll probably fill the truck at the ramp so the water temp is the same.
They haul thousands of fall fingerlings at a time for stocking in these trucks. My guess is 50-ish is probably near the limit for adult muskies, maybe more. They're travelling in heavily oxygenated water so stress is minimized.
Weather shouldn't be an issue unless it's dangerous for the crew to be on the water.
Once they're done I'll get the details.
