The latest weather models show southern michigan potentially over 70 degrees everyday for the next 8 days! We could be looking at water temps skyrocketing 30+ degrees in a less than 2 week period. Extreme fluctuations in water temp, particularly in the spring often cause mass fish die offs. What does this mean for our muskie lakes? What does this mean for muskie spawning? A warm spring is just another check/balance in nature. Fish hurting due to other stressors will certainly have problems making it. As for the others it's too early to tell, just because the water is warm doesn't mean those eggs are ripe yet. As we all know here in Michigan things can change fast and many years we get snow in April.
