So you think we're going to get as much as predicted? We just poured a wall today, and they are talking up to 10' tall snow drifts. Now picture this: When a hole is dug for a house foundation, the hole is as deep as the basement wall are tall. Usually around 8-9' deep. And the hole is the same size as your house + an exra 5' perimeter around the whole thing to work around. I'm hoping I don't get back to my jobsite on Thurs (we're taking Wed. off) and find the entire hole filled with snow. I can't even imagine how we would tackle something like that. Flame throwers? 2 tons of salt? Wait until April?
there was a storm back in 83 the year i was born, that blows this storm away from the pictures my parents have shown me, and told me about.
But regardless this storm was pretty bad, i just plowed the driveway and had to go over it several times. I also didn't go to work today, my dad got stuck in our neighborhood with 4wd, so i know my 2wd explorer wasn't going anywhere
W e got about 14 inches here. Biggest problem was drifting. Michelle had to drive home from Fremont to our place at 7:30 this morning . At one point she was pushing a pile of snow with the grill of her truck. I plowed my drive at 3 am and again at 2 pm had about 6 to 8 inches each time. Im glad I got up and plowed last night as it would have been tough for the little jeep to move it all at once. My driveway is like 3/8th of a mile long. I spent like 4 hours total plowing in the last 24 hours. Right now skies are clear and we are all plowed out. It was not near as bad as the big one in 79. Mike

Yeah that 79 storm drifted overpasses shut on 131, that one was hardcore..
We had a hell of a storm over New Years in the late 90's??? We had about 22-24" in a couple days. My wife and i were in Indy with freinds and when we came home we had all that snow waiting for us. In that house we had about 500 feet of driveway… That sucked… I used a garden tractor with a plow, but it took forever. That was the worst dumping I can remember since '79. '79 was a doosey… We got about 12" over here last night. Like mike said, the drifting was the problem. I went out at noon, and many of the roads had not been plowed yet.
The next snowblower I buy will lbe a wide 2 stage self propelled…
Im incredibly greatful for my wifes former collegue who gave me his 30" 2 stage snowblowere this spring (for changing a lightbulb while he was out for surgery and his wife was 9 mos pregnant)…i normally don't mind shoveling a bit, but our drive is long enough it would have taken hours to get rid of it. The best part about the free snowblower is that he was moving to Fargo [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
