Well Fella's …
I found out about 3 weeks ago after some good ol' fashion pain in the back of my butt, thigh, down my leg, calf, into my ankle that i have a lil problem. At work doing a delivery one night, carrying a king mattress up a customers stairs i felt a burning sensation run down my butt/leg/into my ankle area…
Went to the Dr's… I have a tare in my hamstring. This has been causing a very unpleasant feeling when i have to stand a lot or sit a lot or require an odd movements with my right leg. I have been taking it easy out on the water. Now after my Dr visit today they say I need surgery, and i will have to rest, in the sense that I wouldn’t be able to fish for rest of summer, it takes 10-16weeks for muscle, hamstring, tendons and all that crap to heal, and then some physical therapy to get it back in place, stretches slow and all that junk. So I am looking at losing my musky season… I just asked the Doc…So can I put this off and have it done later, he said yes, but it could tare further and be a severe pain, and a more complicated surgery to repair hamstring. It's all BS… I am putting it off until at least after salmon season, hoping that it will heal it self, and he said it could if i rested it properly..
I might be a tad retarded here, but unless the pain is killing me I am fishing!!!
I mean, what would u do, miss work and fishing? There is workers comp…what at compensates our fishing??? (other then sex)…haha

All I can tell you is that it is a HELL of a lot better to miss one fishing season now than to be miserable for the next sixty seasons because you were a little too anxious to get out there. Tendons are not to be trifled with- get it fixed and don't worry about missing some fishing. Life is too short to damage your body.

Mid,
Dont F-around with your hammy.Playing football in my younger days,
I was taught to take good care of the ham.Im no doctor, but I know
its nothing to take lightly. And it does take a long time to heal.
The fish will be there next season. And soon it will be danger zone
for warm water muskies anyway.Keep off the leg! -kid

Bryan,

If you would like even more feedback, I injured my hamstring when I was 14 and it still gives me problems (it reaches into my lower back too). The hamstring is the traditional lingering injury…

well after gettin an MRI today it looks like taking it easy has helped, and to keep resting it and taking it easy should help it. I just have been restricted to lighter duty at work. So i'll keep on keepin on as they say and keep slinging, but carefully.
