[quote="Will Schultz"]Looks to have solved the hooking problems…
Sarcasm??
No, on a regular Bondy, when the fish eats at the head, it gets a mouthfull of leader as well because the line tie is directly above the front hook almost. So you set the hook, and basically open the fish's mouth by doing so. (So I've been told…) [smilie=biggrin.gif]

I feel like that is still going to be the case though, but maybe that is how it goes with any kind of vertical jigging lure. The bait isn't very big and a musky of decent size will get most of that bait in its mouth and when that happens it looks like the leader will still be in the way. I've never had a hit on a bondy so I can't really talk, but to the naked eye it looks like the leader will still be in the way.
The fish I've caught on a Bondy Bait have all been caught on the hook I attach to the split ring on top that connects directly to the leader. I haven't caught any from the two bottom hooks. The ones I've lost or strikes have shown teeth marks on the head and a knicked up leader. It's a great way of catching fish and it works. The problem is standing there repeating an "up and down" motion all day. Really boring for me and after sometime you really lose focus. We've gone out there many times saying to ourselves were gonna strictly jig a Bondy Bait because we know where the fish are and it works. Problem is we only last a short time before we switchback to casting baits that get down. Great technique in deep water but boy it can be boring, especially if the fish aren't just "jumping in the boat" which seems to be the case with Muskie Fishing….I prefer to cast but will jig.
Bondy baits can be effective as a cast transitioned to jig lure. I had a chance to talk to Mr. Bondy last year about this technique as well. Basically the bait is cast, slaps the water which alerts fish. Fish will hit on the drop-saw this technique catch a 41 at the Bruce last year in 20 FOW. All in all I have only caught a few fish fish on Bondys' but most of my fishing is done in less than 10 FOW. Haven't had any shake offs, all solid hooksets. Interesting lure configuration with this mod.
Quote from the Lake St.Clair.net site from Bondy:
"Thanks. The Meal Ticket is nothing like the orginal Bondy's. It is a casting bait, not a vertical bait. It comes in like a crankbait, nose down and forward. It vibrates side to side, from top to bottom and has a wobbling tail. They're selling well so far. Angler's Point has them as does Michigan Musky Shop and Rollie and Helen's. Thanks all….cancelled today's trip but more fish pics to come this fall. "
