No problem King! Cooper and I were talking Monday morning about what a blast it was to have three boats working together to get on fish. It is a crazy lake… Some times it seems so easy to find them and catch them. Most times, you still have to work for them. It makes the process much more efficient when you have multiple boats covering water. What is so bizarre out there is how you can be running a similar setup as a boat right next to you and they are catching fish and you are not… There has to be some simple little detail that is different. Maybe it’s not being in the exact right place at the right time, maybe it's the sound/frequency of one boats motor vs. another, maybe they want a WB perch jointed Loke at 30/2 vs. a WB Perch Wiley at 25/2… There are so many variables that play in to success. It is difficult for one boat to get it all dialed in.
If you look at the success we had as a team, we boated good numbers, a couple good ones, and unfortunately lost a couple really good ones… But none the less, it was a good team effort.
Yes, we smoked it as a three boat team. For the weekend . Radios and cell phones are so important. Without my GPS I was lost in the old days. It gives. us such a new look at the same waters. I started fishing off Belle river in 1997 when I chartered Stubby. We stayed in his old tackle shop which is now a nice little lodge. We used to go out there and just wander around trolling aimlessly around the hump or down towards the dumps. Waypoints and help from friends really make for a more exciting day on the water. I think speed had a lot to do with the strikes but white belly perch did seem to be the color. We did lose another one sunday at about 1:45 on the old blue green frog 15 feet back in the prop wash. I have to get John to paint that color again. It has been my best producing Loke of all time.We will have to do it again sometime. Mike and Shell
