Itching to get out, anyone have any recent temps from Ovid or Sanford? Hoping that with the rain and the colder night time temps we are getting close.

Went bluegill fishing on murray, and had 81 pretty much everywhere… but don't get too excited, the thermocline was waaay deep, and I had over 80 at 8ft (all the farther my makeshift probe was going today 🙄 So its better than 87 on the surface, but still a ways to go yet…

All depends on the lake you are going to fish. My guess is Austin will be good to fish by Friday morning, but it cools faster than most.

What he said. I haven't been out yet this year and have been getting the itch.

Bankson was 85 monday afternoon. Went out to check temp and do a little bass fishing. HAsn't stopped most people from fishing it or Long Lake. Two weeks ago I bass fished Bankson and there was about 6 musky boats out there and it was 86. Both those lakes have been getting pounded still for the last month. I might go check it again tonight because I'll be out that way.

it was the same way on murray a couple years ago. I ran into some guy at the launch and he talked about how august was his best month, when the temps were consistently 84 to 85 everyday…

The thing that pissed me off was the clown didn't even have a normal release net.. trolling around with walleye crap

I just hope most of the guys aren't good enough to catch many/any fish so there isn't much harm done.

Austin I would think would be fishable for sure in another day or two. I wouldn't know because I have no use for that lake anymore and haven't fished it since March and don't really ever plan to go back. I used to like to fish West but I no longer have a boat that fits through the tunnel.

Talked to the neighbors son today. He went down on Hudson last Sunday to bass fish (dosen't muskie fish no equipment for it). He didn't know water temp, said it had rained down there and couldn't see anything, got one bass. So far today we got 1.25" of rain and it's only 60 degrees. Were supposed to get more rain thru Saturday with low temps in the 60's. I asked him if he saw any floaters and he said no, but there were muskie fisherman out there.

What about putting signs at some of the boat launches warning about fishing for muskies in water > 80 degrees. Maybe something that could go right with or on the know the difference signs. I know people don't like being preached to but I feel like most of the casual muskie fisherman fishing in the summer just have no idea that the fish have greater chance of dying. Has this ever been discussed in the club?

Also with the regulation changes coming are we going to have new know the difference signs made/put up? If we do maybe put something on it about fishing in hot water? Just a thought.

I was out today on a lake similar to Murray. Water temps 77-78 so it's starting to cool down some. Even though there's a mid week warmup, next weekend is supposed to be cool. I expect to be back on Murray before the end of August.

Seen temps on LSC up until this cool down anywhere from 78-81 in main lake areas and bays. Channels were 75-77 but seen them cool down to 72 now.

F it'd be good to try for muskie again, the pike and smallies have been fun but about 2 months now since I could chase musky. I heard a credible report today of a typical SW inland lake already down to 76 with the cool rains, let's get after them biotches…
