Man you guys hear about that dude "MASK" from TapOut. Dead!
The car was cut in half. Really bad deal.
Yep… sounds like he was killed by a drunk driver and that they were speeding but last I knew it wasn't depicted as a "race". Sounds like the guy that caused it will go to prison.
I can't imagine anyone living through this but his girlfriend did.

That was a Ferrari. I bet they were going ~150 mph judging from the condition of the junkpile that's left.

Not sure the Porshe would have been anywhere near the Ferrari at 150 mph…
Here's a better pic of the two parts.

I really have no idea but Id bet there may have been a little drag
race action going on there. Ive done many a battle on the street
with my GS but stuff like this makes ya really think twice. One wrong
move, bump, loss of traction and someone can end up dead. My Buick
pulls 108mph in the quarter and thats about all shes got with the gearing
I have in it. I cant even imagine crashing like that at what surely looks
to be a buck fifty +. Those pics are truly staggering to me.
During the winter many years ago I was the first person on the scene of an accident just like this in Williamston. I was watching an Olympic hockey game during an evening telecast and heard a tremendous "metalic" sounding "sonic boom" whose sound wave seemed to hit my house not far from a corner intersection near my property at that time out in the country. I ran out and saw a fire down at the wetland area near that corner and came upon a smaller station wagon type car "PT 109'd" or cut in half just like the sports car was with bags of groceries and bodies strewn on the road. There were 4 women in the car which was cut in half and 1 survived somehow. The drunk driver of the car that ran the stop sign was said to have exceeded 100 mph and he survived. His car was nearly unreconizable up against a tree 200 feet beyond the victims car. He appeared to be hiding his stash or a bottle. Anyway, I will never forget the graphic horror I came upon with these bodies. Two of them had their coats and clothes ripped off/shreaded by the impact of the car severing theirs. I agreed to testify against the a.h. when I reported to the police his hiding something in the bushes. His defense attorney was disgusting in court trying to somehow convey a lesser situation than it really was!
{nerd}
What street racers forget is that in a collision, all the car's kinetic energy gets dissipated VERY rapidly through destructive forces on the bodies in collision.
The KILLER is that the kinetic energy of a moving object scales as the SQUARE of the speed of an object (KE = 1/2 * mass * velocity^2), so a collision at 150 mph releases 9 times the energy of a collision at 50 mph. (150 = 3 * 50, and 3^2 = 9). And a collision at 50 mph is scary enough! Triple the speed = nine-tuple the energy. A tire blows, a deer jumps out, a pothole that wasn't there yesterday bends a rim, and BLAM, you're dead.

I'm taking your word on this that it's true… 🙄 But you haven't lived until you and 5 other crotch-rockets are doing 185 mph @ 3am and making it from Grand Haven to Grand Rapids in about 15 min!! Or doing cat-walks in the left lane at 115 mph while passing cars! Yeah, I used to be one of the stupid, crazy a$$holes… LOL!

Hemi-Does that take into the account the elasticity of the collision and the rapid though not instant deceleration caused by the cars crumple zones and other anti-dying devices? I need more info here man…

Energy is energy, dood. [smilie=bangtard.gif] [smilie=biggrin.gif]
Of course the "severity" of the collision depends on the angle, offset, and rates of deceleration etc., but if you hit a tree broadside at 150 mph, it's BAAAAD no matter what. 😯

So I see Matt is the responsible one! Always trying to keep Jim out of trouble, or out of the body bag!
A few years ago my buddy who is pretty fearless was street racing
his 69 Chevelle down on Market. Now when I say me and my buds
"street race" Its pretty organized. Late at night, industrial type roads,
no traffic,a starter, etc, etc. Anyway,… my buddy got a little squirrly
in the 1-2 shift, keep in mind this was a low 10 sec car off the bottle
(in other words pretty GD fast!) well he bailed out on the run and lost
that race. When we got back to the hang-out,he was a different person.
I think he may have met God that night. ?? (Keep in mind when we
race, the street on both sides are lined with on-lookers for the first
couple hundred feet.Kinda like American Graffiti movie). Well when
he lost traction the nose pointed right at the people along side of
the road, which I was one of that night. Jason got it under control
and did a fine job of it, but it scarred the crap out of him. He was
done, and I mean DONE street racing with a car of that caliber.
I never really understood it/him, I even called him a pu**y a
couple times. Well,…. maybe Im just getting old, or maybe I
have more appreciation for my car now, or maybe, just maybe,
my buddy Jason was right in saying how GD Stupid it is to
be street racing and taking a chance on killing someone.
"You wanna race,..take it to the track" he said.
I must be honest, I still enjoy a good street race, the excitement,
the horse power, the smell of burning rubber as both cars/bikes
heat up the tires,….but is it worth it??? I dont think so. And what
happened to that dude MASK further proves it(although Im not
saying he was drag racing-??) I think Ill leave the street racing
for somebody else to do. Although,…… this sh*t is in my blood
so I make NO promises.-Peace
