Was curious to get some feedback regarding tackle storage ideas. I am sure most of you have tried different things throughout the years and with the onset of winter and some muskie shows around the corner I wanted to find a better solution for 09. I tried using a crate w/PVC tubes & a hole in the middle for my seat pedestal (heavy & somewhat cumbersome). I also tried some Plano boxes and just stored them in compartments in the boat or a tackle bag. How do you guys store dawgs including pounders? I am starting to feel that it may be to my advantage to not have alot of tackle with me so it will force me to master a handful of presentations and focus more on speed, depth, structure, etc. Let me know what you guys have finally settled on through your trials & errors. Thanks for the feedback and see you in Chicago.

I use plano boxes for almost everything, I have enough under deck storage that I can keep hundreds of lures in the boat and almost nothing on the floor. The exception is that I have a small lakewood on the floor of the boat that is packed with bucktails. Pounders are tough to store but the plano box w/o dividers actually works really well for them.

After suffering with the same issues going through a hanging plano and a lakewood I finally realized that floor space was at a premium, after fishing with Will I switched to all Planos and tucked them where I could. I still have way too many lures in the boat and all my floor space. I have a box with pounders and another with 14" hookers in it as well. You wont get alot of them in there but they do fit.

Are there any pictures of these lures available? I am working on my boat over my semester break and am going to do some compartment building in the picture area and want to do some sheet metal work for organizing large lures. I was thinking of picking up one of those Plano boxes as well. What is a typical dimension (tubular or rectangular box) that you guys would prefer if you were going to custom build a storage area? I have a sheet metal shop at my disposal…

If I was going to have custom tackle storage I would have it built to fit around the 3730 boxes.

Then I would have an area that could hold large lures like Deep Threat's or Pounders. Basically a built in version of the lakewood extreme.
