I'm finally getting the other half done! it only took 8 months to get around to it!, but when fihsing started this spring I didn't need the Big dawg as much… then summer happened!

those are beautiful, I realy like the section without cork, Im sure your sides will feal much better without the rash from ripping after 10 hours. What are their measurements?? they are almost too pretty to put on my boat, my boring black rods would get gelous, but Im sure they could get over it..
Both rods are set up the same, with the back of the reel seat 16" from the butt… so the reel is 18.5 from the butt. the rear section on the split grip is 4" butt cap, 6.5" blank (which will have a special "muskie" tiger wrap as soon as I get to it, and then 5.5" of cork behing the real seat. Bothe rods have a 5.5" fore grip.
They are definitely nice rods, and I can't wait to throw some dawgs on the upper chain this weekend with the big one. I get to leave in about 2 hours

Agreed on both statements. Rods looks great and I love the BD. I used to be a Slingblade fan, but four Big Dawgs later, I use them for everything from blades to mag size plastics. I used to use them for pounders, but hav a different rod for them now.
I definitely loved the new big dawg this week, or as I named it the "fiin dawg" since everything I make is named after my kids in some way 😀 but that thing was great for everything from phantom softtails, to twin tail bull dawgs. I also used it with some bucktails and it did well, however the sling blade is a little easier to cast with finer accuracy. I was amazed at how well it did with the gliders though, i think I have a new favorite, though it was a little heavy for suicks and things like that.
St Croix Big Nasty blank with a bit of a split grip (with a cork spacer) design. Also dressed up the reel seat with some stuff someone ordered and didn't use, so I might as well!
