Hopefully going to make it to the Western UP this summer. Usually don't get past Munising when I am up there. I was thinking of maybe heading into Wisky for a little bit too. Has anyone bought a license in Wisconsin before? Short termers available? Also any tips on where to head or where not to are greatly appreciated.

Theres the link for non-residence licenses. 4 day and 15 day is available. As for where to go? I've only icefished it and not for muskies but it would be really hard to go wrong with Vilas county. There are litterally hundreds of muskie lakes, many stocked, many wild in that one county alone. I'm sure with a little homework you could pick some of the best waters for the time you are there. You could pretty much just throw a dart at a map and go fishing and be on muskies up there. Oneida and Iron counties are close by and have a ton of muskie waters as well.

Ohh yeah one more thing about wisconson, you can't troll. Yes you read that correctly, it is illegal to troll with a motor. I have no idea why, it makes no since and personnally I think its awesome. 32972897432 muskie lakes and you can't troll to catch them, sounds like heaven to me. 😈
Is that on every lake?
Iron and Oneida counties are no motor trolling as well as prolly half the state, its not just Vilas county. And yeah Jason its pretty much every single lake. Throw out a line while you move spots with your gas motor? BOOM ticket.

Heres the regulation book, Motor trolling part is page 19 and county exceptions are farther down.

Is that just no trolling with a gas motor or no trolling all together, electric included?
The rule is interpreted like this; if you have a line over the side of the boat and the boat is moving under power (of any type other than oar). Even if you have a sucker hanging over the side while casting and positioning your boat with the electric and the sucker line is at an angle they'll call it trolling.
