Planning a little scouting trip to this area with the thought of putting together an outing tor next summer, similar to what we have done on the Chain. I've spent a little time up there a few years back, and think the Neebish Channel area could be good for something like this.
I'm looking at spending at least a long weekend to sample the fishing and check out the resorts in the area and would love to get 2 or 3 other boats in on this. Haven't decided on a date yet, but I'm thinking probably in August, when the southern waters are usually too hot. If anyone is interested in this, get a hold of me and we will see what we can work out.
I would also like to hear any thoughts/ideas anyone may have about my plan, and would love to hear from anyone with knowledge of the fishing or accomodations in this area.
Thanks,
Ken
Michelle and I have wanted to go up there a decade. Every time we plan one the wind blows us out and we go somewhere else. The guy to contact is Rod Jones. His handle here is rjbass . Might be a real good Idea to fish with him one of those days. He lives there and knows the water AND CATCHES HOGS. 😀 Also makes very nice baits. Mike and Michelle
Depending on the weekend and if I am available, I am very interested in being a part of this. Keep us posted when you have a weekend you want to do this figured out. My summers are nuts with weddings and whatnot but hopefully I can make it up there with the club for something like this. I have not fished that water system yet but it is near the top of my list of new places to try.
I was up there the week before Memorial for four days. The thing I always manage to forget about that place is how frickin big it is.
We saw one fish do a Moby Dick maneuver in the spread but I think I spooked it with a line and that was about all.
A couple of hints/reminders for those unfamiliar with that area. It goes from quite deep to really shallow in a heartbeat in a few areas one of the few places I am glued to my navigation software. There can be a lot of traffic at certain times and it is nearly always windy. On the plus side it has a lot of hawgs just has a lot of areas for them to hide as well.

If you guys are planning on staying near the north end of Munuscong bay, Island View Resort is a good place. It's reasonably priced. There's gas, tackle (some musky) and basic groceries right there. There's also good docks there with plenty of deep water, which can be a problem in certain areas around the bay. Plus Carl, the owner, is a heck guy.
