Considering heading down to St Clair on Thursday. Gonna take advantage of the reg changes and fish some Canadian waters. Usually make it down 4 or 5 times a year but always avoided the hassle and hung out in the USA with middling results. Few questions if anyone wants to chime in.

We usually launch at Crocker. We plan on fishing the south shore area around the Thames and Belle river. Is there a better launch that we should be using? Taking into account safety of my truck and my person……..

Is the Thames and the Belle even the right area to be focusing on? General or detailed input all appreciated.
Thanks in advance I'll post on how many fish we see but don't catch when I get back….

There is a private ramp at the end of 9 mile. Its $10. Opens at 6 and the guy starts closing up at 830. I consider it safe never had any problems aside for the long walk between the parking lot and ramp. Second option is St. Jean. I've never launched there but info can easily be found on the interwebs. Good luck. I know they are getting them good on the Belle River hump. I have been striking out on the American side.

Thanks for reply.

We used 9 Mile ramp. Wasn't that bad or a run to the hump, took us like 30 minutes. We didnt do that great. went 1 for 3 casting. Small mid 30's fish. The ones we lost were a little bigger. Low 40's. Action on Dussa's and Bucktails…

Use Crocker. Head to the middle of the lake near the weather buoy and start fishing… its that easy. If there aren't any boats trolling the area head a little south. Catch a 50.

Exactly what Will said…Drive till you hit weather bouy and fish SW of it Usually you can find a good stain there but you gotta find baitfish. I have no idea the water temps are right now but usually by now White Bass and Shad are in the deeper middle parts of lake. You could even focus on some channel areas this time of year. Soon the fish will push back shallow come early fall but for now you gotta go literally to the middle or Middle East or Middle South of lake to find them. When it doubt just look for the enormous amounts of casters and trollers all packed into the same area. It's become a zoo out there!
