I may be waaaay out of the loop, or just unobservant, but I just noticed this in the latest Musky Hunter mag…
I guess I am more or less curious if you all think it would be any different than say a phantom soft tail (just an example of one thing I already have, I am sure there are more!), and if it would be able to be worked differently???
I do like the size options though.

hellhounds have different action than a phantom as you can get it to do a whole lot of different actions.

Was mentioned a few times, but you may have missed the thread. def wanna pick one up this year

I'll probably get one as I can work a HH much easier than I can work a Phantom. I'm not a glide bait guy by any means, and I'm really not even a big conventional gear guy, so I need the easiest glide bait out there, and for me, it's a HH.

Hellhounds do have a totally different action. Much more of a sharp, Z-pattern than a Phantom. I feel like I can get them to get a much wider side to side action than a Phantom. Hellhounds can be deadly if trolled in shallow water also. I love the idea of a softtail Hellhound, they're already my favorite glide bait as it is.

HH's are machines, I don't think they have that little shimmy on the pause like a phantom and every now and then a phantom will skip a beat. You probably need both but, I think the phantoms are way better in getting fish to bite!

I just picked up a couple of these and I can't believe how close together the hooks are on them. The two eyes for the hooks are maybe 1inch apart, and when the hooks dangle they are practically touching. Looks like they are going to get tangled all the time on the cast. Way different hook positioning than the normal Hellhounds I have. Not sure I like that at all. I also wonder if they are all like this or its just a weird batch I got a a few of.

3/0 short shank RB would probably help.
