Looking for some 12-16" suckers. Any suggestions? In other places I've lived I was able to find baitshops that would order them for me. So far, the local bait shop guys I talked with doubted they would be able to get them. I even offered to prepay with a $20 at two smaller shops in case they were afraid they would get stuck with very expensive minnows but no deals. Maybe D&R can come thru?
If you were to try to catch your own suckers, where would you go? How would you go about it? I'm in the Paw Paw/Lawton/Marcellus area, about 20 miles SW of Kzoo in case you have tips.
Thanks for the help.
Ranger,
I think I may have PM'd you before about Cabelas and I also heard that Anglers Point near LSC may get some. I also heard from Cabelas that you not only need a sticker on the bait bucket to confirm that they were safe from VHS but you need the receipt from the store that confirms it.
I would call some local fish places and see if they can order any for you. It might be worth a field trip to get a bunch and then keep them in a large cooler with an aerator. I would do this but my kids would end up naming them….
If you have any success catching them please post it up. Your other choice is catching some perch or other type of fish and if it is legal size you could use them. Good luck!
Double L bait and tackle on Sprinkle Road in Vicksburg usually has large suckers throughout the winter for decoys. I like to buy the smaller (7-10") occassionally to put on my tip ups. I've never checked to see if they carry any during the summer/fall, but it might be worth a shot.
