Very disapointing. I did however figure out why hemichemi is called hemichemi. I think that was him at ovid with the hemi with the chemi license. Ya know, put two and two together. [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]

So, why didn't you say hello? Which boat was yours?
Anyway, I had a bad, bad, bad day. I was over an hour late, spilled 80% of my coffee before I got into the boat, got blown around the lake by a force-9 gale, and THEN, the power connector to my trolling motor became first intermittent and eventually broke completely. I had to cut the connector off, drag my battery up from below-decks into the bow and connect it directly to the motor. Got my line tangled in the trolling motor TWICE, forgot my HAT (I normally have an extra one stowed, but I didn't…), forgot my lined-nylon pants (I only wore shorts to the lake; BRRRR), and didn't even MOVE a fish. Then to top it off, my partner caught the BIGGEST FISH OF THE DAY AND WON A LURE!!!!!!!!!!!! 😡
Damn him, anyway… [smilie=frown.gif] [smilie=wink.gif]
Didn't expect much with the weather conditions the way they were. About 9AM I got a 40" fat healthy fish, so I was a happy camper. We ran into a young lady on the lake, she said her name was Dorothy, was looking for her dog and said something about us being in Kansas. (Sure felt like we got blown to Kansas)

What ARE you smokin'? 🙄
I WANT SOME!!! [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
Well, not a good start to the season. Drove all the way to Ovid and found out the trolling motor wouldn't work…very convenient in 20 mph winds. Still managed to raise one and catch some really big bass just drifting but it was not ideal. Turns out 2 of my 3 batteries were toast despite the charger showing that the batteries were fully charged.
Back down on Sunday to Ovid with new trollling motors in tow, caught a dink and lost a pretty nice one (low 40's) at the boat but that was about it other than some bass.
SHORTS!?? Wow Hemi I am impressed!… and at least your team put a fish in the boat- never look at a day when a muskie has graced your net as a disappointment, PERIOD! You can name off all your other setbacks, and they were substantial I will admit, but happily punctuate all that with "but we caught a muskie"!
We didn't push it too much given the weather circumstances, and tried some small water river fishing on the Tittabawassee with the car topper boat. Explored some new water, caught one sub-30", missed a 35", and saw just another fish or 2. Actually was nice to quit and have the opportunity to watch the Wings roll in the afternoon, and then do some pretend fishing with my 4 yr old nephew in his living room. I wish I would have had more time to fish Sunday, but was tied up in the morning and afternoon, squeezed in a few hours on Sanford in between that were uneventful. Severly looking forward to more fishy conditions!!!

Hemi, so how did the casting go with that baitcaster?Steve
Steve,
I did quite well, and as my Irish uncles would say, "tanks fer askin' "!
I think I can say, without boasting, that I did very well casting my new right-handed reel with the rod in my left hand as Will recommended. I think Slinger will corroborate that. I had no trouble chucking the lure a far piece, and putting it where I wanted (reasonably as well as I can with my spinning gear). Yes, I had a few minor backlashes, but who doesn't? My Dunwright Dancer really makes that spool spin! 😯
Queenie had to work so I took my buddy. He got his first musky casting but it was small . About 28 inches. Caught some nice bass. Had to stay on the quiet side or be dictated to by the wind. Michelle and I wont get to do much Musky fishing this year. We accepted an offer on our house and have made an offer on a house with waterfront on one of our favorite fishing lakes. It a dream come true with big workshop and testing grounds for our lures. Its going to work work work all summer. We will get out when we can . Mike and Michelle
