Anybody ben on the water with one of these? Is it just good for showing the bottom structure or will it show suspended bait?

I've been on the water with a really high quality side imaging sonar but none of the consumer units.

This view shows suspended bait on both sides of the boat. I think getting used to reading the side imaging would be the only drawback. I think most of the Humminbird units have a regulat view also.

I would like to see how well it shows structure and baitfish pods.

The new sonars are very intriguing, that is one cool snapshot of little fishies there if its real and not re-touched at all. but it definitely is a little tough to wrap your mind around that type of perspective… oh and by the way El Prez, I think you misquoted Rich Rod there- isn't it an accepted axiom that "the THREE worst things you can be are lazy, soft and a wolverine…" ???? I'm pretty sure.

Hmm… I thought the three were lazy, soft and Buckeye.

I would have said Spartan but… well, I'm sure I don't have to repeat Mike Hart's comments from November 2007.

Or the Izzone's comments from January 27th. You're right, we don't have to go there

I fished with a friend who has one a couple of weeks ago, the first thing that really stood out is that they are HUGE! I found the split screen view showing both sides kind of disorienting, but the whole screen single side was amazing. We were using it in a river and were able to see individual bolders and logs as well as fish lying right up against structure and those suspended in the water column in slack water areas. In the river current the image quality suffered some structure was easily made out but not as crisp/clear and when running up current we were only able to really pick up the bottom.
